Since 1967 Maprom Engineering, based in Dordrecht (The Netherlands) has solely been specialised in water-lubricated propeller shaft system solutions. By developing and improving our own components, we ensure the best quality available on today’s market. We keep innovating to exceed your requirements.
We have always believed that water is the ideal lubricant because of its environmentally sound, non-compressibility, cooling property and unlimited availability at no cost. It forms a perfect (hydrodynamic) lubricating film with the lowest coefficient of friction. Therefore not a drop of oil or grease is used.
Of course we have necessary spare parts readily available for swift shipment and quick response times. The real difference is that since our systems are easy to maintain and explain, you’ll be able to use local engineers. A clear briefing from us via phone and/or web will save you time and lots of costs.

Different conditions require optimised approaches for the best results:
In an A-bracket, outboard water lubricates the bearing system, either by natural flow or by force feeding.
In open systems the same bearings and shaft liners are recommended. In addition Maprom forward stern tube seals are mounted including a simple, but reliable, lubrication system.
Mounting both Maprom forward GS- and aft GS-seal on either end of the stern tube creates the by Maprom introduced closed water-lubricated systems.
