Advanced Propeller Shaft Sealing Systems

The Maprom GS Seal: The Ultimate Self-Lubricating Seal

The Maprom GS seal is a high-performance, self-lubricating sealing system designed for exceptional reliability in the most demanding conditions. It utilizes the surrounding water to lubricate its own sealing elements, eliminating the need for oil or grease and preventing shaft wear. Its innovative design effectively repels dirt and abrasives, making it the ideal choice for vessels operating in challenging waters.

Engineered for longevity, the Maprom GS seal is a proven solution for naval vessels, dredgers, and commercial ships that require maintenance-free, environmentally friendly operation.

Bayamo

The Bayamo, a LPG tanker, with a shaftline system designed by Maprom. The single  9½” shaft system features a FWD and AFT seal combined with NCB shaftsleeves and rubber demountable stave bearings. During the recently ten year survey, the system was to be found in almost new condition, with a wear of only 0,15mm on the complete system. This positive outcome resulted in very happy customer.

Bolero

The Bolero is a container vessel designed to deliver reliability, efficiency, and safety across international waters. The Bolero reflects Maprom’s commitment to strengthening supply chains while driving innovation in maritime logistics.

A 135-meter-inland container vessel with a fully enclosed system. With its water lubricated shaft system it’s without oil or grease, just environmentally friendly.

Maprom, for propulsion reliability.

The Nuyina

For the Nuyina, a recently built icebreaker, Maprom supplied the FWD and AFT seals, fully compliant with the needed class ruling due to the severe ice (breaking) conditions. The fully split 869mm AFT Seals are demountable and can be serviced with the shaft in place. The FWD seals have size of 695mm, and can also be serviced with the shaft in place if needed.

Why Choose Us?

Sealing systems

Axial Facetype

Uses water for lubrication, ensuring low friction and preventing shaft wear.

Long Working Life

Designed for extended service life. For example up to 115.000 working hours in closed system.

No Dry-Docking

Sealing elements can be replaced without dry-docking the vessel, saving significant time and cost.

Shockproof Design

Robust construction makes it suitable for demanding naval and Arctic applications.

Benefits

Environmentally Friendly Operation

Our water-lubricated stern tube seals provide a green alternative to traditional oil-lubricated systems. By eliminating oil, you eliminate the risk of pollution, ensuring compliance with VGP/VIDA regulations and protecting sensitive marine ecosystems.

Unmatched Durability

Engineered for the harshest environments, our seals are trusted for use in naval vessels and ships operating in Arctic conditions. The robust rubber compound sealing rings and low-friction design ensure long-lasting, dependable performance.

Maintenance Without Dry-Docking

Maximize your vessel’s uptime with our innovative designs. Many of our stern tube seals, including the GS seal, can have their sealing elements replaced by a diver while the vessel is afloat, eliminating the need for costly and time-consuming dry-docking.

High-Performance Sealing

Our integrated sealing systems are designed to be dirt-repellent and self-lubricating. Features like axial facetype design and high-performance sealing elements ensure a tight, reliable seal that prevents water ingress and protects your shaft line.
